The aim of these classes is to develop and improve linguistic and communicative competences on the basis of topics related to Russian geography, nature and culture (up to the 20th century) that result from the teaching programme. In the course the student's knowledge is enriched by topics and selected issues from the field of business language. The aim of the course is also to review and organise the already acquired knowledge of Russian grammar and spelling. |

Studies` profile: general academic Studies: full-time Type of course: compulsory Semester/year of studies: Year I, Semester I - II, MA studies, 180 h/classes The aim of these classes is to develop and improve linguistic and communicative competences on the basis of topics related to Russian geography, nature and culture (up to the 20th century) that result from the teaching programme. In the course the student's knowledge is enriched by topics and selected issues from the field of business language. The aim of the course is also to review and organise the already acquired knowledge of Russian grammar and spelling. - Mentality of Russians as a nation. Stereotypes - Poles and Russians. Contemporary Polish-Russian relations. Mentality of the representatives of other nations. Non-national Russian stereotypes (e.g. bania). Russian national holidays. - Geography and nature of Russia - landforms, climate, waters, vegetation, wildlife. Trans-Siberian railway, tourism and expeditions in Russia. Extreme tourism. - Russian culture and its development (10th century – first half of the 18th century): features of Old Russian culture, wooden architecture (hut, granary, chapel), medieval city (Kyiv, Novgorod, Vladimir, Moscow), monastery, icons (features, icon-making, works of F. Greek, A. Rublev, S. Ushakov), wall painting (frescoes, mosaics). - Moscow - the capital of the Russian Federation (history, development, attractions). - "The Golden Ring of Russia" tourist route - Sankt-Petersburg (history, development, attractions). - Sankt-Petersburg (history, development, attractions) and suburban mansions. - Russian modern culture and its development (first half of the 18th to the 19th century): characteristics, development of architecture and urban planning, the modern city, painting (portrait painting, landscape painting, history painting, genre painting), folk music, classical music, theatre. Grammar and spelling: revision of grammatical rules learnt by students in their BA studies. The above range of topics covers 2 semesters. Ushakov), wall painting (frescoes, mosaics). - Moscow - the capital of the Russian Federation (history, development, attractions). - "The Golden Ring of Russia" tourist route - Sankt-Petersburg (history, development, attractions). - Sankt-Petersburg (history, development, attractions) and suburban mansions. - Russian modern culture and its development (first half of the 18th to the 19th century): characteristics, development of architecture and urban planning, the modern city, painting (portrait painting, landscape painting, history painting, genre painting), folk music, classical music, theatre. Grammar and spelling: revision of grammatical rules learnt by students in their BA studies. The above range of topics covers 2 semesters. |
