Learning outcomes and verification methods:

Student knows fundamenthal notions from ordinary differential equations theory and understand geometric interpretation of differential equation. - Oral/written Exam, continous evaluation

Student is able to solve elementary ordinary differential equations by using proper analytical methods. - Oral/written Exam

Student knows fundamenthal existence and uniqueness theorems and is able to study an existence of solution of initial value problem. - Oral/written Exam

Zakres tematów: (tylko po angielsku)

Contents of the course

Ordinary differential equations, general solution, particular solution, singular solution. Initial value problem. Geometric interpretation. First order equations solved for the derivative: equation with variables separable, total differential equations, linear equations, Bernoulli, Riccati equations. Fundamenthal existence and uniqueness theorem for Cauchy problem. First order equations not solved for the derivative. Problems in trajectiories. Linear equations of higher orders. Linear space of solutions of homogeneous equations. The Wrońskian determinant and linear independency of solutions. Linear equation with constant coefficients. Methods of solving of linear nonhomogeneous equations. Systems of differential equations. Fundamenthal existence and uniqueness theorem for Cauchy problem for a normal system. Linear systems, fundamenthal matrix of solutions. Liouville formula. Linear systems with constant coefficients.

Teaching methods: lectures, consultations, studying literature, home works, discussions in groups.
