Skrócony opis: |
The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge on the role of environment in socio-economic development. In particular, students will learn about: the relationship between economy and evnironment and environmental resources, value of the environment, economic growth and the functioning of the markets, the economic causes of environmental degradation, externalities and public goods. Students will acquire the ability to analyze contemporary environmental problems from the economic perspective. |

Methods of active participation in classes: discussion, educational project, case study, group work, performing computational tasks The form of completing the course: Lecture: final exam in the form of a multiple-choice test Classes: getting credit with a grade based on work performed during classes, projects performed partially during classes and outside the classroom ECTS : 5 points Quantitative indicators Student activity: Participation in lectures - 15 hours. Participation in classes - 30 hours Participation in consultations related to exercises - 6 hours. Participation in consultations before the exam - 6 hours Exam - 1 hour Preparation for the exam - 30 hours Projects - 26 hours preparation for discussions and group work during classes - 9 hours. Student workload related to the classes: requiring the direct participation of the teacher - 60 hours, 2.4 ECTS |

After completing the course, the student: ES1: the student knows and understands the relations between the economy and the natural environment (from the point of view of the individual and the entire economy) and knows the regularities that govern them (KP6_WG4) ES2: knows and understands the importance of the elements of the environment for the development of civilization, including knowing and understanding the importance of public goods and external effects on the economy (KP6_WK1) ES3: is able, based on the knowledge of the economics of the environment and natural resources, to correctly analyze and interpret the course of dependencies between the elements of the economy - society - environment (KP6_UW1) ES4: can plan independent learning and project implementation, including the ability to independently perform tasks, search for information, including electronic databases in the field of the natural environment (KP6_UU1) ES5: can solve specific cognitive and practical problems in the field of shaping the market balance of environmental goods, including both renewable and non-renewable resources, also in terms of external effects (KP6_KK3) ES6: identifies and resolves dilemmas related to human activity in the natural environment (KP6_KK4) ES7: is prepared to participate in projects related to the valuation of environmental goods and services, as well as the economics of environmental protection (KP6_K01) |

Evaluation criteria as provided by 'Study regulations at the University of Bialystok, i.e. score of or 51% is required to obtain the lowest passing grade (3.0) 5 - very good (A) - 91-100% 4,5 - good plus (B) - 81-90% 4 - good (C) - 71-80% 3,5 - satisfactory plus (D) - 61-70% 3 - satisfactory (E) - 51-60% |
