(tylko po angielsku) Stand Up Comedy: Language and Culture This 20 hour course will focus on developing English language skills and cultural awareness through a wide spectrum of interactive activities which will include text analysis, vocabulary development, as well as speaking and writing activities. The input will be provided by a selection of all-time classic as well as contemporary stand-up performances in the English language (American, British, Australian, Canadian, ect.). The final credit will be based on attendance, active participation and a Project Work prepared by every student. |

(tylko po angielsku) Project Guidelines: Each student selects a stand-up which is available on-line and prepares a series of activities which will be presented to the group on a given class date. A selection of the activities will be conducted with the group. The final, full version of the project, including a 5 minute script (or script of the full stand-up for extra-credit) of the chosen stand-up is to be uploaded to group folder. The project should consist of: 1. Front page containing information about the author, stand-up artist, URL to the selected stand-up, length of the stand-up. 2. Activities to the selected stand-up. The language level of the activities should be adjusted to the level of the students in the group. a. Warm-up/introductory activity. b. Listening activity c. Vocabulary activity d. Speaking activity e. Writing activity f. Cultural context activity. 3. Script of minimum 5 minutes of the stand-up. 4. Key to the activities. Grade for the Project will be based on the quality and inventiveness of the activities, accuracy of the script and the quality of the presentation of the project and activities to the group. |
