(tylko po angielsku) The aim of the course is to gain knowledge about the early Byzantine era in the period from the 4th to the 7th century, with particular emphasis on the history of the Church.

The subject is devoted to the changes that took place in the late Roman Empire. The analysis will concern the political history of the empire, its relations with Persia and neighboring peoples, as well as religious and cultural changes. Particular emphasis will be placed on the history of the Church, its role in the Empire, and its impact on society and culture.

The subject is devoted to the changes that took place in the late Roman Empire. The analysis will concern the political history of the empire, its relations with Persia and neighboring peoples, as well as religious and cultural changes. Particular emphasis will be placed on the history of the Church, its role in the Empire, and its impact on society and culture.

The topics of the classes also concern the evolution of the Roman army in the late antiquity, conflicts with various peoples (Goths, Vandals, Suebi, etc.), causes and consequences of the fall of the Western Empire, the Great Migration of Peoples, changes in the structure of the Empire, as well as the Justinian era. Separate classes will be devoted to the most important controversies within Christianity during this period, as well as the causes of the defeat of the Byzantines in the war with the Arabs and the territorial losses of Byzantium as a result of them.
