Short description:	(in Polish) The course is designed to introduce students to the sociology of religion as a sociological sub-discipline and the characteristics of Polish religiosity, especially in the Podlasie region.
Full description:	(in Polish) Sociology of religion as a sociological sub-discipline. Presentation of main trends in the sociology of religion. Sociological definitions of religion. Classic period in the sociology of religion - Emile Durkheim. Contemporary theories of religion (P. Berger, T. Luckmann, J. Casanova). Secularisation process in modern and postmodern societies. Deprivatization of religion. New religious movements, sects, cults (Scientology, the orthodox sects in the Podlasie region). Places of religious worship in the Podlasie region.
