Założenia (opisowo): | The objective of the course "Methods for evaluating investment projects" is to provide students with the knowledge necessary for making investment decisions. Students will acquire knowledge in the field of financial mathematics, the skills to calculate indicators that are the main component of the economic viability assessment of investment projects, interpret the analyzed indicators, and make appropriate decisions regarding the implementation of investments based on these indicators. |

Field of Study: General Academic Mode of Study: Full-time Course Type: Quantitative Subject Class Group: 2 Quantitative Subjects Field and Discipline of Science: Social Sciences, Discipline: Economics and Finance Year/Semester: Graduate Studies, Year II, Semester IV Prerequisites (Sequential System of Classes and Exams): None Number of Teaching Hours by Class Format: Lecture: 15 hours Exercises: 15 hours Teaching Methods: • Informative lectures using multimedia presentations and activating methods, allowing students to ask questions and participate in discussions. • Exercises using activating methods engaging students in independent and group work and discussions: solving tasks and tests, joint discussion of topics, problem-based methods, educational discussions. • Problem-based methods, educational discussions, and solving tasks and tests during individual consultations according to the lecturer's consultation schedule depending on the student's needs. Lecture Topics: 1. Investments. Investment project. 2. Theoretical aspects of calculating changes in the value of money over time. 3. Overview of simple (static) and discounted (dynamic) methods used in the process of assessing the efficiency of investment projects. Exercise Topics: 1. Calculation of present and future value of funds and streams under simple and compound interest conditions. 2. Estimating cash flows within operational, financial, and investment activities. 3. Application of simple (static) and discounted (dynamic) methods in the process of assessing investment efficiency - practical tasks. ECTS Points: 3 Student workload balance (type of activity and number of hours): • participation in lectures (15 hours) • participation in exercises (15 hours) • studying the course literature (10 hours) • preparation for the exercises (10 hours) • preparation for the class tests (10 hours) • preparation for the final exam (10 hours) • participation in the final exam(2 hours) • participation in consultations (3 hours) Total student workload: 75 hours (1 ECTS = 25 hours) Quantitative Indicators: Student workload related to activities requiring direct participation of the teacher (Number of hours/ECTS Points): 38 hours / 1.52 ECTS |

Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
The general conditions are specified in the Regulations of the University of Białystok (Appendix to the Announcement No. 6/2022 of the Rector of the University of Białystok dated December 7, 2022). Lecture: • The condition for passing the lecture is achieving the intended learning outcomes. The form of verification is a written exam. • To pass, a minimum of 51% of the total possible points must be obtained. Exercises: • The condition for passing the exercises is achieving the intended learning outcomes. The form of verification - written tests and active participation during classes. • To pass, a minimum of 51% of the total possible points must be obtained. Depending on the applicable regulations, the possibility of conducting the final exam using electronic communication means is reserved. |
