Short description: |
The subject aims to broaden, consolidate and improve all language skills. Students develop a correct style of oral and written expression. They become familiar with the stylistics of academic texts, become sensitive to linguistic and cultural divergences, prepare for independent translation of short press and applied texts, as well as improve their skills of speaking in a debate (argumentation, construction of an argumentative statement). |

Learning outcomes: |
1.The student has knowledge of the differences between the different registers of the English language. K_W04; K_W13 2.The student has basic knowledge about the culture and life of the English language area. K_W14 3.The student is able to find information and knowledge about the culture and life of the English language area. K_U01 4.Student is able to translate orally and in writing a simple text, also including specialist vocabulary. K_U08; K_U09; K_U14 5.Students will be able to speak in a debate, expressing and arguing their opinion. K_U07; K_U08; K_U13 6. Students will be able to prepare stylistically correct oral and written statements, adapting the register of language to the situation. K_U08; K_U09 7. The student understands and manages the difficulties and specificity of the interpreter's work. K_K06 Verification methods: oral or written pass; control test; projects and practical exercises; presentation; evaluation of activity during classes; evaluation of the effects of teamwork. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Stylistic exercises, oral statements, translation of texts. Form of assessment: credit. Active student participation in classes is required to get a credit. |

The course consists of preparing oral presentations on a topic chosen by the students modelled the TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) presentation, followed by a discussion on the topic proposed in the presentation. |

During the course, students prepare oral presentations on topics of their choice modelled on the TED (Technology, Entartainment, Design) presentations. Speeches (12-20 min.) may not be read. Each presentation is followed by a discussion culminating in a written summary. |
