Założenia (opisowo): | During the course students gain basic knowledge about the functioning of mass media and new media in contemporary society. The media-society relationship will be discussed in historical, social, cultural and technological context. The media in Poland and in selected countries will be analyzed. |

Profile: general, full-time studies Course time: 15 hours Methods and assessment objectives: individual and group work, text analysis, discussion, presentation. Scheme of assessment attendance, active in class participation, entry tests, project work 3 ECTS credits 17 h contact hours (15 hours in class, 2 hour - consultations ) 61 hrs - independent and guided study, (reading and preparation for classes, project work) Quantitative indicators Student workload - contact hours: 17 hrs, 0,7 ECTS credits - independent or guided study: 61 hrs , 2,3 ECTS credits |

During the course the Student achieves the following learning objectives: KP7_WG1, student knows and understands the definitions of the most important sociological terms, can identify specific problems undertaken by sociology KP7_WG6, student knows and describes the basic concepts and theories of the sociology of culture KP7_UW2, student is able to analyse various social structures using terminology characteristic for specific sociological sub-disciplines KP7_UW8, student is able to identify social problems of a selected community / social group and analyse, evaluate and propose solutions KP7_KO1, student is determined to improve his/her social skills |

Assessment scheme: - project work (max 8 points), - entry tests (max 6 points) - - in class participation (max 6 points) 0-10.5 - 2.0 (fail) 10.6-12.5 (3.0) 12.6 - 13.9 (3.5) 14 - 17.3 (4.0) 17.4- 17.9 (4.5) 18-20 (5.0) One absence is allowed; more than one absence from class may result in penalty points. |
