Metody i kryteria oceniania:

Two absences are allowed. Written final exam.

Zakres tematów:

The issues:

1. main issues in bioethics – primary focus

2. life as a value

3. anthropocentric ecology vs. deep ecology

4. rights and interests of animals (criteria of subjectivity, positions of T. Regan, A. Naess, P. Singer, and J. Feinberg)

4. the dispute between advocates of the ethics of the value of life and the ethics of the quality of life in modern civilisation, i.e. the issue of life as a relative value and life as an absolute value.

5. the issue of biological and philosophical criteria of humanity against the background of the main bioethical problems: abortion, medically assisted procreation, transplantation, genetic engineering, human cloning.

6. the issue of death

Metody dydaktyczne:

Teaching methods: lectures with PowerPoint presentations, reading and analysing articles in English, students’ presentations (optional)
