Prerequisites (description): | The aim of the course is to teach language by developing all language skills in an integrated way: reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension. These objectives are to be achieved by: forming correct pronunciation and intonation, mastering accentuation, learning to read correctly (phonetically, intonation and accentuation), developing correct grammar, spelling and punctuation habits, introducing, consolidating and extending vocabulary, forming the ability to formulate oral statements in the context of the lexis studied, developing dialogue skills, practising listening comprehension, etc. |

Profile of studies: general academic, practical. Form of studies: full-time studies. Type of course: compulsory, language module B. Field and discipline of science: humanities, linguistics. Year of study/semester: year I, semester 1 and 2. Prerequisites: knowledge of Polish and foreign languages from secondary school. Number of didactic hours for classes/seminars/lectures: 180 hours annually. Didactic methods: giving explanation or presentation, practical (tasks, discussion), problem-based. ECTS points: 12. Students' workload balance: Participation in classes (laboratories): 180 h (9 ECTS) Participation in consultations: 20 h (1 ECTS) Preparation for classes: 20 h (1 ECTS) Exam preparation: 20 (1 ECTS) Total: 240 (12 ECTS). Quantitative indicators: Student workload related to the classes: - requiring the direct participation of the teacher - number of hours: 180 + 20 = 230, ECTS points: 10 - connected with practical classes - number of hours: 180 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 240, ECTS points: 12. |

Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Methods and tools: exercises, discussion, individual work, group work, project work. Credits at the end of the winter and summer semesters in the form of a grade, based on: attendance, active participation in tasks, completion of written and oral homework, grades for all written work. It is allowed to miss 2 classes per semester without an excuse. Other absences (illness, random accident - the student should present the appropriate document within the time limit specified in the regulations of the University of Bialystok) should be made up during consultations - the form is determined by the lecturer. A student will not be credited if he/she misses (in addition to the permitted absences) 10 classes (and these will be unexcused absences). In order to be admitted to the examination (summer session) the student must have earned credits in both the winter and summer semesters. Examination after the second semester. |
