Short description:

The aim of the course is to explain the causes of crime and social pathologies and their consequences at individual and group level. Problems will be discussed from criminological and psychological perspectives, taking into account sociological contexts, which emphasises the unique interdisciplinary nature of the subject.

We will discuss the causes of risky and dangerous behaviour, focusing on social and cultural changes and individual sources, that may involve destruction towards oneself or others.

We will talk about the nature of psychopaths, the „lone wolf” syndrome, and contemporary behavioural addictions that affect increasingly younger generations. We will also confront the myth that pathologies only concern excluded people and groups from marginalised backgrounds.

An important aspect will be the impact of the internet on the radicalisation and polarisation of public discourse, and the emergence of new conflicts. We will talk about hate speech and its new varieties.
