  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

(in Polish) Wykład dotyczący wiedzy najważniejszych osiągnięć fizyki współczesnej, jej historię oraz zrozumienie metodologii tej nauki.

Short description:

This lecture outlines of the discipline of physics and synthetically summarizes the whole previous education, with particular emphasis on the interdisciplinary aspects of physics research.

Selected problems related to the significant achievements of modern physics and useful applications of physical phenomena.

Learning outcomes:

A student:

1. Understands the structure of physics as a scientific discipline, gains the awareness of the connections of particular fields and theories, knows examples of erroneous hypotheses of physical and erroneous physical theories (K_W04).

2. Knows the limitations of the applicability of selected physical theories, models of physical objects and the description of physical phenomena (K_W05).

3. Understands the formal structure of basic physical theories, can use appropriate mathematical tools to quantify the phenomena from selected physics departments (K_W07).

4. Can present in a popular manner the basic facts from the physics departments, outline the structure of physics as a scientific discipline and present the influence of selected discoveries in the field of physics on the development of technology, economy and civilization development (K_U01).

5. Is able to prepare a study, including those addressed to a mass audience, regarding research in the field of physics departments, using the obtained knowledge and literature and Internet resources (K_U02).

6. Can independently search for information in the literature and Internet resources, also in foreign languages ​​(K_K05).

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Passing the course is based on the assessment that takes into account presentation skills of the choosen topics during the seminar and the ability to discuss problems related to these subjects.
