Political Systems of the Central and Eastern European Countries

The goal of the first part of the course is to introduce the students to the main characteristics of the political systems and to show the main reasons and ways of the system transformation in The Eastern Europe. The second and main part of the course is dedicated to the political systems of the selected East European countries. The course intends to show constitutional solutions presented in the light of Polish and world used models, focusing on constitutional position of the major state organs in the accepted division of powers, their competences and administrative structure. The course presents the genesis and evolution of the discussed institutions in the times of the political transformations and touches upon the problems of reception of the constitutional laws existing in the Western countries in the systems of Central and Eastern European countries.

The number of hours of didactic classes divided into forms of conducting classes - 16 hours of lecture

Teaching methods - classic lecture, consultation, E-learning tasks.

ECTS points - 4.

Student workload balance - participation in classes 8 hours, preparation for classes and exam (including 8 hours e-learning) 50 hours, participation in consultations related to classes 40 hours, exam - 2 hours. Total: 100 hours, corresponding to 4 ECTS credits.

Quantitative indicators - student workload related to activities requiring a teacher's direct participation 50 hours, which corresponds to 2 ECTS credits, and student workload that does not require direct teacher participation 50 hours, which corresponds to 2 ECTS credits.
